I have been dealing with a homeless friend for 4 years. He is promised all kinds of things which don't happen. The system is understaffed, overwhelmed, and poorly conceived. There are many well intentioned people working very hard to help. This may change with the changing landscape of the real estate market in Los Angeles. If you lived in LA for any length of time, you have witnessed many inflated moments. We are now stepping our way out of one. The homeless are only the tip of the iceberg. Its repercussions filter into every aspect of our life. My daughter, her husband, and my two IVF grandchildren have moved close to Frankfurt where raising a family is more affordable. How is even "capitalism" able to sustain itself if it keeps chasing the educated class out of state and country? Obedience because of debt?
